“It has been a relief to not have this sudden pain come out of nowhere and feel confident I can pick something up without dropping it in pain. I've been skiing, biking and able to use my camera again without any issues.”
I've been a client of Mel's for many years. She has helped me with knee issues, ankle sprains and ongoing back issues due to various sports and car injuries.
The most recent visit to Mel involved sharp shooting pains and swelling in my index finger. I'd never had issues with my left hand before and all of a sudden, this severe pain would come on, very suddenly and without warning. I would be unable to grip and lift a coffee mug or cut my own food without a spasm in my finger that would cause me to drop my cutlery. I found it very frustrating as the pain came and went.
I saw Mel and she worked on my finger, starting out at the shoulder and over the course of an hour she was able to address the issue. The finger was sore the next day but within 2-3 days I had full use of my hand and I haven't had the pain again and it's been 4 months now since that treatment.
It has been a relief to not have this sudden pain come out of nowhere and feel confident I can pick something up without dropping it in pain. I've been skiing, biking and able to use my camera again without any issues.
Super happy with the work Mel has done over the past few years to help me live a healthier life.
Thanks Mel!

“Mel is more than a massage therapist. Her ability to see the body (and the mind) as a functioning and interconnecting unit means she treats the whole person not as an a selection of isolated symptoms.”
In 2007 had finally been diagnosed with arthritis and prescribed a knee brace to wear for a few years as the GP considered me too young for a knee replacement. As I was unable to walk very far, I got around exclusively by bike. Mel totally understood the knock on effect of this in terms of my loss of muscle on the arthritic side, the imbalance this created in the way I moved and how my muscles were in tension to compensate. Her understanding of the 'big picture' rather than concentrating just on the specific area that was giving me pain at the time, kept me mobile and more able to get around right up to the right knee replacement in 2012 and then the left one in 2016.
Mel is more than a massage therapist. Her ability to see the body (and the mind) as a functioning and interconnecting unit means she treats the whole person not as an a selection of isolated symptoms. This means, for example, that she is able to suggest specific stretches to address an issue, and also ways to avoid injury by changing how you move or how you think about how you move.
Mel has kept me mobile for 11 years from middle age to senior. She has explained the changes to my muscles and joints she observed as I aged and made suggestions of ways to keep as active and pain-free as possible. I have no doubt that if I hadn't found her, this wouldn't have been the case.
I'm so glad I found Mel in 2008! It was actually a random choice from the internet, but I knew straight away that she was a massage therapist like I’d never come across before and I credit her with keeping me on my bike, helping me to relearn walking after each knee replacement and with changing my attitude towards my body as it ages.

I have seen Melanie several times for a frozen shoulder injury and post-surgical recovery from my total knee replacement.
She helped me increase the range of motion in my stiff and sore shoulder. There was immediate relief and the ability to move my shoulder joint more freely. I can do everything normally with full movement and without pain, which feels good.
Three weeks after my knee surgery, I was having trouble sleeping, specifically because of the nerve sensitivity on the skin of my knee. Just the sheet brushing over the skin was irritating and bothersome. I was amazed by the immediate reduction in nerve pain around my knee after Melanie's treatment. I could sleep through the night immediately, and I appreciated the nerve pain relief.
